Vickery Meadow Youth Development Foundation (VMYDF) was founded in 2007 to provide educational and enrichment opportunities for students and families in the Vickery Meadow neighborhood of Dallas, Texas. Our mission is to connect youth and families to the resources they need to unlock their full potential. The Vickery Meadow community is one of the most diverse neighborhoods in Texas, with residents representing more than 16 countries and speaking over 30 languages.
About

The VMYDF AmeriCorps Member serves as part of our Programming Team, supporting our EAGLE Scholars Program, which serves middle and high school students through year-round college and career readiness, leadership development, and experiential learning opportunities.
AmeriCorps Members will primarily support our Monday–Thursday after-school programming, where Scholars participate in grade-level programming focused on academic success, life skills, leadership, college and career exploration, and cultural enrichment.
AmeriCorps Members will also support Friday Community Meals and Activities, which bring together Scholars, families, and community members through shared meals, enrichment activities, and relationship building. Throughout the year, AmeriCorps Members may also assist with Saturday field trips and special events, including college visits, career exploration experiences, cultural outings, and community service opportunities.
In addition to youth programming, AmeriCorps Members will have opportunities to support adult and family programming, including workshops, family engagement events, and community initiatives that strengthen the overall well-being of the Vickery Meadow community.

Primary Responsibilities
● Build positive relationships with Scholars, families, and community members by offering encouragement, mentorship, and support.
● Assist with planning and facilitating EAGLE Scholars programming focused on academic success, life skills, leadership, college and career readiness, and cultural enrichment.
● Support Friday Community Meals, family engagement activities, and Saturday field trips or special events.
● Assist with adult and family programming as opportunities arise.
● Prepare materials and supplies for weekly programming.
● Support program logistics, including set-up, clean-up, attendance tracking, and facilitating icebreakers or transition activities.
● Engage Scholars through one-on-one and small-group activities during programming.
● Participate in college visits, career exploration experiences, cultural field trips, and community events.
● Capture program impact through photos, participant feedback, and success stories for communications and reporting.
● Maintain accurate records of Scholar participation using VMYDF's tracking systems.
● Assist with volunteer engagement during youth and community programs.
● Contribute ideas that strengthen programming and elevate Scholar voice and choice.
● Collaborate with the Programming Team to create meaningful experiences for youth, adults, families, and the broader Vickery Meadow community.

This location requires a total service commitment of 300 hours.

Benefits include
  Living Allowance of $3,300.00; paid out biweekly ($220.00)

  Education Award of $1,565.08; earned at the end of term.

  12 hours a week
