External Relations Intern
POSITION SUMMARY
The External Relations Intern supports the Vice President of External Relations at Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired. This is an unpaid internship that offers hands-on experience in nonprofit work, including event planning, communications, and community outreach.
The Intern will assist with meetings, events, and outreach efforts, and will gain exposure to working with donors, community leaders, and public officials.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Outreach & Stakeholder Support
- Research community leaders, donors, and public officials.
- Assist with outreach and scheduling meetings.
- Help prepare materials for meetings and events.
- Maintain and update contact lists.
2. Event & Fundraising Support
- Assist with planning and running events such as White Cane Day and the See the Light Luncheon.
- Help with invitations, RSVPs, and event logistics.
- Support donor outreach and follow-up communications.
- Assist with general fundraising activities.
3. Communications Support
- Help create and schedule social media content.
- Track basic engagement metrics.
- Assist with marketing materials and media lists.
4. Administrative Support
- Attend meetings and take notes.
- Assist with special projects and general office tasks.
- Support team members as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current college student or recent graduate in a related field (e.g., Marketing, Communications, Public Relations).
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Interest in nonprofit work and community engagement.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
