Investigations Team Intern - Summer 2026
Everytown for Gun Safety, the nation’s largest gun violence prevention organization, is seeking an intern to work with the organization’s Investigations Team. The Investigations Team is part of the organization’s Law & Policy Department, which researches, develops, and advances policies that reduce gun violence in communities across the country.
This is a paid 10-12 week internship commencing in late May or early June 2026, and concluding in August. This internship requires a commitment of 24–32 hours per week, with two days per week in Everytown’s New York City office.
The minimum hourly rate for this position is $18.00.
Primary Responsibilities:
You will work closely with members of the Everytown Investigations team on various projects to support their work, which will include:
- Analyzing corporate records, court filings, regulatory documents, and social media to support investigative projects
- Building and maintaining databases of sources, documents, and evidence to support ongoing investigations
- Researching and drafting investigative articles on the gun industry for the team’s website, TheSmokingGun.org
- Monitoring news, litigation, and legislative developments related to the gun industry and gun violence
Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in college studies
- Ability to complete projects in a fast-moving environment and deliver timely and high-quality work
- Experience with data organization tools (Excel, Airtable, etc.)
- Demonstrated interest in gun violence prevention, investigative journalism, or public interest law
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information
- Experience with advocacy and/or open-source intelligence research is a plus
About the Hiring Process:
