The program is open to currently enrolled undergraduate students who reside in Bexar County and are attending a college or university. Proof of Bexar County residency is required; however, the institution attended does not need to be located within Bexar County. Students who have previously earned a bachelor’s degree or higher are not eligible to participate. The program is a ten-week engagement beginning on June 1, 2026, and ending on August 7th, 2026.

Purpose: To give undergraduate students meaningful on-the-job training and experience working with a nonprofit arts organization and to foster future leaders and advocates for the arts sector in Bexar County. Selected students will develop a closer understanding of how the arts benefit their community along with real-world applications of business skills that can be applied to their careers. Arts organizations will receive assistance from motivated students on seasonal or special projects.

DUTIES & PROJECTS:

The Bexar County Arts intern will work directly with the Education Programs Manager and other staff, assisting with Artpace programming and resource development for current and past Artpace exhibitions. The Bexar County Arts intern will first develop virtual archive resources, focusing on educational technology and accessibility. These resources can be utilized by online and in-person visitors through maps, timelines, search engine optimization, and interdisciplinary connections.

As part of this project, the intern will also create digital resources for the fall DreamLab family day event to be used by event attendees to give context to upcoming fall exhibitions through exploration of both medium and content.

In addition to these focused projects, interns will assist with set-up for the fall TeamWorks chalk competition, a new pilot program for virtual tours, artist community collaborations, workshop administration, tour facilitation, and help plan leadership opportunities for second year Teen Council members. Daily tasks for the education intern will include working with staff in documenting Artpace events, aiding in programming and visitor relations duties, budgeting, managing and organizing materials for various programs, and collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data regarding program performance indicators.
