Community Programs & Events Intern

The Community Programs & Events Intern will have the opportunity to assist the ACT team in multiple aspects of programming and event planning associated with ACT’s community programs, mobile art studio, fundraisers, and special events.

Duties & Educational Opportunities

  • Support for small and large community events including mobile art studio events, performances, art exhibits, hospital programs, fundraisers, and more
  • Opportunities to lead various aspects of programs and events from start to finish and/or support Coordinator in execution
  • Program assistance and oversight; prepping materials, project/lesson creation
  • Contribute content to social media platforms and ideas for promotional materials to promote events
  • Participate in recruitment and training of volunteers to support events and event preparations
  • Office administrative assistance

Reports to: Program Coordinator 

 

Time

Minimum 10 hours/week (consistent weekly schedule, with some exceptions for special events)

Preferred hours include:

  • Generally between the hours of 9am - 5pm Monday through Friday
  • Monday and/or Tuesday evening until 7pm
  • Flexibility for pre-planned special events outside of business hours

 

Skills & Characteristics

  • Reliable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
  • Passionate about the mission of ACT; the arts/cultural community and offering programs to people with disabilities 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Passionate about the mission of ACT; contributes to exciting and inclusive programming for people of all abilities
  • Must be available to travel to programs and events throughout the greater Grand Rapids area
